Engine Oil Service
Oil Changes for European, Domestic, and Asian Vehicles
European vehicles like Mercedes, BMW, VW, Audi, and Porsche require regular oil changes and other oil services, just like any vehicle. They usually have performance engines built with tight tolerances. This means changing the oil more often makes sense in some makes and models.
Always refer to your manufacturer’s recommendations or owner’s manual for an oil service and other maintenance services. If you no longer have this manual and are unsure when to change the oil, Bock Auto can help.
Oil Change Schedule: Average vs. Severe Driving
The standard frequency for an oil change usually ranges from 5,000 to 7,500 miles. But some manufacturers have a different schedule for severe driving. Depending on the make and model of your vehicle, the range is between 3,000 and 5,000 miles.
Severe driving means driving a lot in certain conditions, such as on the highway, in the mountains, in towing, or on mostly gravel roads. City driving with mostly stop-and-go is also considered severe.
Oil changes are not the only maintenance you need to do sooner if your driving habits are severe. The vehicle manufacturer will most likely recommend flushing the transmission fluid more often.
Oil Changes for All Types of Vehicles
When you bring your European vehicle for an oil change at Bock Auto, you’ll get oil recommended for your vehicle and OEM oil filters. Most European cars use full synthetic oil.
If you have a domestic or Asian vehicle, we’ll use the appropriate oil and OEM oil filters. This way, we ensure your vehicle receives the best product for your engine’s performance and fuel economy.
OIl Service is Not Only About Oil Change
While an oil change is the most common type of oil service, there are other services needed to make your engine (and consequently, your car) run in top condition.
You should also have the oil filter replaced. This part helps remove contaminants from the oil, keeping the engine running smoothly.
Oil leaks should be addressed as soon as possible. If not, the leak can lead to low oil levels and damage to the engine, which can lead to costlier repairs.
An oil system cleaning service also helps by removing the buildup of dirt and sludge and restoring the oil system to optimal performance.
Additional Vehicle Inspections
While we have your vehicle on the lift, we also check for other issues like:
- Transmission fluid leaks
- Brake fluid and power steering fluid leaks
- Coolant leaks
- Bad hoses and worn belts
- Engine components (such as alternators, air conditioning compressors, and water pumps)
- Brakes, brake lines, rotors, and calipers.
- Tires for pressure and alignment issues
- Steering and suspension components
- The exhaust system
The certified auto technicians at Bock Auto will let you know if you need something that needs immediate repair or can be deferred to a later time.
